Basketball: Benfica wins first Quarter-Final Over Esgueira in Aveiro

Benfica opened their Liga Betclic Feminina quarter-final series with a commanding away victory, defeating Esgueira in Aveiro 96-67 in Game 1 of the best-of-three series.

Playing at Esgueira’s home ground, the Lisbon side were dominant throughout, leaving little room for the hosts to mount a sustained challenge. In final two quarters Esgueira’s players managed to find their game, closing the gap. Yet, the result left Benfica firmly in control heading into the next game

Game 2 is scheduled for April 11 at Pavilhão Fidelidade, Lisbon. Benfica need only one more win to advance to the semi-finals, while Esgueira face challenging task to take on the favorites. Third game, if to be played, is scheduled to commence April 12th.
