Legends Charity Game 2025
On September 15, 2025, Lisbon witnessed a moment when football went beyond sport. At Estádio José Alvalade, the first Legends Charity Game brought Portugal Legends against World Legends.
The initiative is set to become annual: former professional players return to the pitch to support humanitarian projects. Organized by the Sport Global Charitable Foundation with Prism the Gift Fund, the match aimed to raise over €1 million for the Red Cross in Ukraine and Portugal, Caritas Portugal, and International Alert.
Sixty thousand fans filled the stands, while broadcasts on TrillerTV, ITVX, and YouTube reached audiences worldwide.
Portugal Legends featured Vítor Baía, Beto, Pepe, Ricardo Carvalho, Fábio Coentrão, José Bosingwa, Jorge Andrade, Eliseu, Bruno Alves, Luís Figo, Deco, Dani, Simão, Maniche, Tiago Mendes, Nani, Ricardo Quaresma, Nuno Gomes, Hélder Postiga, and Pauleta.
World Legends lined up with Petr Čech, Edwin van der Sar, Marco Materazzi, Javier Zanetti, Carles Puyol, John Terry, Kaká, Youri Djorkaeff, Gaizka Mendieta, Krasimir Balakov, Gheorghe Hagi, Christian Karembeu, Giorgos Karagounis, Marek Hamšík, Alessandro Del Piero, Henrik Larsson, Michael Owen, Javier Saviola, Hristo Stoichkov, and Oleksandr Usyk.
Portugal Legends defeated World Legends 4:1. Pauleta, Hélder Postiga, Figo, and Pepe scored for Portugal, while Michael Owen netted the only goal for the World team.
Legends Charity Game 2025 marked the beginning of a new tradition. Lisbon gave the first spark to a series of annual matches where football’s passion turns into real support for those who need it most.
