Porto Gaia GranFondo
On April 14, 2024, the third edition of the Porto Gaia Granfondo took place in northern Portugal. The race started in the center of Porto and finished at the Serra do Pilar barracks in Vila Nova de Gaia. The event offered three courses: 54.5 km (Minifondo), 108.5 km (Mediofondo), and 156.5 km (Granfondo).
More than 900 cyclists from different regions participated. The routes passed through seven municipalities: Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Gondomar, Penafiel, Castelo de Paiva, Arouca, and Santa Maria da Feira.
The Minifondo course went through Gondomar, included the climb of Serra de Pias, then descended to the N108 by the Douro River, and ended with the ascent to Vila Nova de Gaia. The Mediofondo and Granfondo continued further through Crestuma, Minas de Pejão, Castelo de Paiva, and Arouca, with the Granfondo totaling about 3,013 meters of elevation gain.
The event was organized by Porto Gaia Granfondo with the support of local municipalities and sponsors.
