Portugal Track & Field Championships — 10.000m and 5.000m, youth and masters
On May 1st, Lisbon’s Estádio 1.º de Maio hosted the Portuguese Absolute and Masters 10,000m Championships alongside the Under-20 5.000m titles.
10.000m — Absolutes
Miguel Borges (GDRST) won the men’s race in 29:06.09, Luís Oliveira of SCBM (29:32.04) in second and Samuel Freire of GDRST (29:39.13) taking bronze — giving Santa Tecla two podium spots.
In the women’s race, Ana Marinho (CDSSC) crossed first in 34:38.63, followed by clubmate Sara Duarte (34:57.82). Joana Ferreira (SCBM) completed the podium in 35:15.43.
5.000m — Under-20
Diogo Brandão (ADNO) claimed title in close men’s final in 15:07.70, just over a second ahead of Afonso Moreira (ELCT, 15:08.76), with Igor Gomes (GDCG, 15:12) in third.
Cátia Khvas (ADNO) took the women’s win with 17:11.90, ahead of Lara Roque (AABV, 17:27.02) and Fátima Silva (CBPAR, 18:28).
Masters Highlight — World Record
The standout performance of the day came from Davide Figueiredo (Figueiredo’s Runners & Friends), who set a new M55 world record in 10.000m, finishing in 31:48.05.
Overal team standings: GDR Santa Tecla dominated the men’s 10.000m, CD São Salvador do Campo claimed gold and silver in the women’s race, and AD NucleOeiras swept both U20 titles.
