Portuguese Cup round 4: Atlético CP vs Benfica

On 21 November 2025, Atlético Clube de Portugal faced Benfica in the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup. The match ended with a 2–0 victory for Benfica. José Mourinho’s team advanced to the next stage of the tournament, where they will meet the winner of the AVES SAD vs Académico de Viseu match.

Atlético Clube de Portugal delivered a structured and highly competitive performance. The team held a goalless first half, stayed compact, and maintained balance until the middle of the second period. One of the standout players was the young midfielder Catarino Pascoal, who operated confidently in the center of the pitch and played an important role in Atlético’s transitions from defense to attack. Goalkeeper Rodrigo Dias also had an eventful evening, saving a penalty in stoppage time.

Benfica strengthened their game after the break through a series of substitutions. Richard Ríos opened the scoring in the 73rd minute, and four minutes later Vangelis Pavlidis converted a penalty awarded after VAR intervention. These moments defined the final outcome.

The match remained under control in terms of discipline. Atlético received four yellow cards and Benfica three. The fouls did not significantly influence the flow of the game, although one penalty decision by the referee was considered debatable.
