São Silvestre do Porto 2025: the city for runners

On December 28th, streets of Porto welcomed final running competition of the year – São Silvestre. This annual run is famous for supportive crowds, Christmas atmosphere and challenging, yet scenic course in Porto city centre. 2025 brought together almost 12,000 finishers on 10 km distance and several thousands more on 5km walking competition.

The race commenced at 6:00 pm, on Avenida dos Aliados, and finished next to Porto City Hall. The starting shot was given by the mayor of Porto, Pedro Duarte, accompanied by councilor Rodrigo Passos, Paulo Santos, vice president of IPDJ, João Duarte, general director of Lidl Portugal, titular partner of the event, as well presenter Jorge Gabriel and Portuguese international football player Pepe, who took part in competition himself.

Triumpants of the main event, 10km race were Rui Pinto representing Sporting CP with a result of 28:48 and Mariana Machado (SC Braga) at 33:21.

Sao Silvestre do Porto is being held since 1994 with Runporto acting as organizing team.
