Triumphants of Millenium Estoril Open 2026
The Millennium Estoril Open concluded on July 26 with a triumphant performance from French players. Luca Van Assche, ranked outside the world’s top 75, claimed his maiden ATP Tour title, defeating Alexander Blockx (Bel) in the final, 6–4, 4–6, 7–5. Compatriots Titouan Droguet and Kyrian Jacquet completed the French sweep, winning the doubles title over Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos (Bra), 7–6(7–2), 6–7(4–7), [11–9].
Van Assche’s run included the tournament’s notable plot twist: a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over top seed and World No. 14 Andrey Rublev (Rus) in the quarterfinals, ending Rublev’s five-match winning streak following his Bastad title. He then beat fellow Frenchman Hugo Gaston in straight sets to reach his first ATP final.
The tournament week’s hot story was Portuguese wild card Tiago Torres, world No. 427 and a tour-level debutant, who beat third-seeded Alejandro Tabilo (Chi) 6-4, 6-4 after upsetting former Top-20 player Nikoloz Basilashvili (Geo) in round one. Second seed Luciano Darderi (Ita) reached the semifinals, rallying past home favourite Jaime Faria before falling to Blockx.
The 2026 edition marked the tournament’s move to a new summer date, July 18–26, rather than its traditional spring slot, putting matches on Portugal’s Riviera at the height of summer heat for the first time. Play was staged across the Millennium Stadium and secondary courts, with sessions running both day and night on the tournament’s three busiest days.
The 2027 Millennium Estoril Open is scheduled to begin on July 19.
